Historical drilling at Basin Gulch

More than 320 historical drill holes have been completed on the Basin Gulch Property, according to Lannister Mining.

What did historical drilling find at Basin Gulch?

Basin Gulch historical drilling, as reported by Lannister Mining, returned long gold intervals starting at surface, such as 1.8 g/t Au over 162 meters and 0.66 g/t Au over 326 meters, plus higher grade zones such as 156 g/t Au over 3 meters. The results are historical and will be confirmed by new drilling.

Definition: what historical drilling means here

Historical drilling at Basin Gulch means holes completed before Lannister Mining's current work programs. More than 320 such holes exist on the property. They are the main reason the company describes Basin Gulch as having significant historical work behind it.

Historical results are not yet a mineral resource. Lannister Mining plans expansion and confirmation drilling of historical drill intercepts so they can support a Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate prepared under a recognized standard such as NI 43-101 or S-K 1300.

3.2 g/t Au72 m236.2 ftYes
156 g/t Au3 m9.8 ftNot stated
25 g/t Au14 m45.9 ftNot stated

The table shows two different kinds of result. The long intervals that start at surface, 162, 326 and 72 meters, point to broad near surface mineralization. The short, very high grade intervals, 156 g/t Au over 3 meters and 25 g/t Au over 14 meters, point to richer zones inside it. The company has not stated whether those two higher grade intercepts start at surface, so the table says so plainly.

What did trenching at Basin Gulch show?

Trenches expose rock at or near the surface. At Basin Gulch, they returned both gold and silver.

Every trench highlight reports silver as well as gold, from 23 to 54 g/t Ag. Silver matters at Basin Gulch: the property sits in the Philipsburg Mining District, which led the original US silver boom in the late 1800s.

How to read a Basin Gulch drill result

A short guide for partners and investors new to drill tables.

Grade

g/t Au is grams of gold per tonne of rock, and g/t Ag is grams of silver per tonne. 1.8 g/t Au means each tonne of that interval averaged 1.8 grams of gold.

Length

The length is the distance along the hole over which that grade was averaged. Basin Gulch results are published in meters with feet beside them, for example 162 meters or 531.5 feet.

From surface

From surface means the interval begins at the top of the hole. Lannister Mining links this to significant implied flexibility in future mine design.

Common questions

How many holes have been drilled at Basin Gulch?

More than 320 historical drill holes have been completed at Basin Gulch, according to Lannister Mining. That drilling is the main body of past work on the property. The company plans to use it, together with new work programs, toward a future Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate after confirmation and expansion drilling.

What are the best historical drill results at Basin Gulch?

Lannister Mining highlights five historical drill intercepts: 1.8 g/t Au over 162 meters from surface, 0.66 g/t Au over 326 meters from surface, 3.2 g/t Au over 72 meters from surface, 156 g/t Au over 3 meters, and 25 g/t Au over 14 meters. These are historical results the company plans to confirm with new drilling.

What did trenching at Basin Gulch show?

Lannister Mining lists four trench highlights at Basin Gulch: 62 g/t Au and 32 g/t Ag over 159 meters, 4 g/t Au and 23 g/t Ag over 146 meters, 5 g/t Au and 54 g/t Ag over 34 meters, and 25 g/t Au and 45 g/t Ag over 61 meters. Trenches sample rock exposed at or near the surface.

What does g/t Au mean in drill results?

g/t Au means grams of gold per tonne of rock. A result such as 1.8 g/t Au over 162 meters means the drilled rock averaged 1.8 grams of gold per tonne across a 162 meter interval. Higher grade over a longer interval generally points to more metal, which is why explorers report both numbers together.

Why does "from surface" matter in a drill intercept?

From surface means mineralization starts at the top of the hole rather than deep underground. Three of the Basin Gulch highlight intercepts begin at surface, including 1.8 g/t Au over 162 meters. Lannister Mining says this near surface mineralization implies significant flexibility for future mine design optimization.

Can historical drill results be relied on?

Historical drill results are a starting point, not a final answer. Companies typically re drill selected historical holes to confirm grades and widths using current methods before including them in a compliant estimate. Lannister Mining states that the Basin Gulch maiden estimate will follow expansion and confirmation drilling of historical drill intercepts.
